Photoshop Tutorial Testimonial!
Dear Dwayne: Here’s a testimonial to brighten your day! I have listened to your Photoshop tutorials on VTC so much that I’ve practically got all your scripts memorized! They have helped me so much! I am an MD/PhD with a specialty in Emergency Medicine (knife and gun club type thing). My personal contribution to the field has been teaching emergency procedures. I wrote a book called the Color Atlas of Emergency Medicine which has hundreds of illustrations and photographs. I also edited a textbook called Clinical Procedures in Emergency Medicine, both the 4th Edition, and the 5th Edition which is due out in September, 2009.
Here’s the sad part. I was on the faculty at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville for many years, but had to give up my medical practice in 2007 due to illness at age 46. I have near total degeneration of my spine. I’ve had 8 surgeries, multiple levels of fusion and severe neurologic problems including a time when I could not walk. Now, I spend my days lying down either in bed or in a recliner. The good part is that I found a really nifty desk called an airdesk that swings over me and I have a LOT of time now! So I’m really trying to learn Photoshop to do all those things that the medical photographers and medical illustrators always did in the past. Before I got sick I took a lot of photographs of orthopedic emergency procedures and I’m puttering around with those photos now. Here’s where Dwayne Ferguson entered my life, stage left! Photoshop is SO challenging!! I have listened to you for hours and hours and hours. Over and over I've tried everything you suggest and slowly I’m getting better. I'm really not stupid, but I feel like an idiot trying to learn this program! I can honestly say that resuscitating a patient in cardiac arrest is easier for me than understanding paths, channels, lassos, layers, magic wands, and masks! Dwayne, you are awesome. You really have a gift for teaching. I spent my entire career teaching medical students and residents and I wish I could have been 1/16th as good a teacher as you are! Thank you for all the time you've spent recording these tutorials. Keep up the good work! Never stop teaching!

I am half way through your training video course on Photoshop CS2. So far excellent. I have been doing Photoshop for the past three years as a hobby. I am 72 years old and a retired pathologist. I believe that I have a fairly good grasp of ps. I would like to learn some more as at I have lots of time. Do you think that it’s worth my while to learn something about Adobe Illustrator. If so, could you recommend a concise program of Adobe Illustrator that will not take me another three years to become somewhat reasonably comfortable with it. At my age three years is a significant time. If you do have a video tutorial available I would certainly want to review it. On the other hand do I need to get involved in Adobe Illustrator as I would like to try my hand at
Photoshop designing.

First may I say a great big thanks for your Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 lessons.
I signed up with VTC to check out PHP, which gets a little boring so I decided to have a look at some Photoshop lesson as I have always used fireworks. The first one I looked at was a little boring then I tried your coarse and may I say outstanding I have now moved on to your Adobe Creative Suite Power Projects and have my very own pirate flag as my desktop background.
I have been a carpenter all my life. I bought my first PC four years ago just for gaming but over the last year have started learning every thing I can(there is just not enough time in the day).
My aim in life now is to some how pack up construction work and make a living using my PC and your lessons have inspired me even more.
On a side note I now own a Wacom tablet; may be they should give you commission.

My name is Gregory. First of all let me say that you did a great job demonstrating poser 5 on the VTC site. I am a really big fan of 3d and animation but don't have the resources as far as education. Is there colleges out there that can teach this type of profession. I currently own Poser 5, True space, and Bryce, however my computer isn't the best at working with these programs but it let’s me work with them. I am a legally blind man but am able to see well enough to work with these programs. I just wanted to email to say that your work is great and I know my way around Poser 5 now. Poser Tutorial
Being an avid Computer graphics amateur for years - I've realized for some time what can be done with programs like POSER. When given the chance to grab it for free (during a great offer from Curious Labs) - I jumped at the chance.
I installed it - and looked at it - and scratched my head - and chewed my nails - and I thought, 'What the heck, now?'
Then I saw the Poser tutorial and immediately bought it. What a great move!
I just worked through it thoroughly with two computers set up and it was fantastic. Dwayne's easy manner (with loads of detailed instructions) was a gift to follow. I now plan to have a total re-cap although I can fly solo for several parts.
I've learned so much, and now, in conjunction with the Poser/ Daz web-sites I look forward to learning even more.
Dwayne's humor made it all so much fun and I'm so grateful.
Incidentally - I hate to admit it - but by your apparent ages - I'm an old man! (63 !) But now, after making Don Casual stomp around a walk path, I'm a teenager.

Adobe After Effects - A HUGE FAN!
I found you by watching some tutorials through my college at The Art Institute. You inspired me with your Adobe After Effects tutorials. I have always loved animation and I have become addicted to learning it. I am almost done with my digital design classes and I am not satisfied. I did not learn animation. Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 & Flash Animation
Dear Dwayne: Several years ago I took two of your courses: "Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2" and "Animating in Flash". I have taken several other courses on VTC for various other things, but I enjoyed your courses the most! You explained the elements of the program in detailed yet simple terms (which is very significant indeed) and at the same time made it fun to learn because of your creativity and playfulness! (I really enjoyed your cartoons too). A lot of the other "teachers" are more serious in their videos, which are okay, but I enjoyed your style a lot. It was very refreshing. :-)

Photoshop Creative Suite 4 - A Great Package
My name’s Jim from Kenya. I’ve just finished watching your videos on Adobe Photoshop CS4. It’s a great package!!!. I like your sense of humor and the fact that you make learning fun and easy. That’s not to say that the videos aren’t loaded with information. If anything, they are overloaded. Despite the fact that I’m not a total newbie to the Photoshop world, my learning curve was as steep as possible ( exponential, I believe, is the word I'm looking for ). My plan to fully integrate / include all Adobe Applications in my workflow’s now a step closer. Photoshop has always been the missing link in my workflow but having watched your videos that’s no longer an issue. Lastly, I’ll do exactly what you recommend in one of the videos i.e. digging into the help files for in-depth information, going online and reading lots of books and magazines to get lots more information, tips, tutorials and lots of other stuff. I'm of the opinion that applications like Photoshop and After Effects defy the imagination and for that purpose cannot be taught in totality - even if one produced 500 hrs of video. I, in that connection, appreciate the compact nature and preciseness of your videos. They are brief but to the point. I’m looking forward to interacting more with you online and probably even meeting you in person someday. Lastly, this website just feels like you. Thanks once again and have a good one.

Hi Dwayne: Just been listening/watching the video you did for Photoshop Creative Suite 2 and got a bit disappointed now that I have reached the end of the disk. But then was surprised and elated that now I have a another disk to learn! HELLO MR. Ferguson: I am a big fan of your VTC tutorials! I have gone thru many of them, learned a bit of flash - and some other adobe software from you! I like your style, impressed with your knowledge, enthusiasm - - - and sense of humor.
I recently bought a Mac power book... (I have always used PC's) and am learning a lot in the Apple iLife 08 series. The MAC is so new to me, I feel like a bit of a dork - not able to really complete anything.
Once again - - I truly am a fan...thank you for your tutorials!

Hello Dwayne: WOW!!! Thank you so very much for such great tutorials. I have about five of your VTC CD's from Photoshop to Flash, and Animating in Flash...you name it. Just recently got high-speed here in the wilds of the BC Rockies...so it was off to VTC online and as much of your stuff as I could get. Love your teaching style, it's fast and useable from a work standpoint.
Having a response from you personally is like having Thor send an email from Mt. Olympus!

The weather here in Bonnie Scotland is beautiful to day after three days of heavy rain oh, and by the way we do have more than one monster you know other Lochs have had some monsters spotted in them too, although there may be a correlation between the amount of whisky drunk and how many monsters you might see!!!

Photoshop Creative Suite 2
Hi Dwayne: I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your tutorials at VTC. To date I've completed the Photoshop Creative Suite 2 and Illustrator Creative Suite 4 versions. I'm now working my way through the Photoshop CS4 and it's great for learning new features and also getting that extra bit the second time around.
Your tutorials are superb for getting the basics down and then sending me on my own path to creativity; assuming I have me some of that! I have a long way to go, much more to learn and master, but I got started with your delightful guidance. Many thanks for that...

I just completed your Photoshop tutorial at VTC.com. It was very informative and I am excited to take the steps you taught me and use them to make my design life easier. I had no idea I could design my web pages in Photoshop, HAHAHA I wished I had know I would have only gotten the creative suite 2 package
and not the Studio 8. I'm sure I will be able to use it all, but I am still learning how to use the programs. I was pretty well versed in Pagemaker 7 & Photoshop 7, it's funny how just when you think you know it all, you realize you know nothing! *grin*

Hiya, Dwayne: I feel like I know you since I just did a two day blitzkrieg on myself using your VTC Photoshop Creative Suite 2 course. I'm all the way up to the ducky project. I'm looking forward to mutilating him by noon today!
Congratulations on a job well done. Your lessons were cogent and easy to follow. You were particularly good at providing contexts for the information you put forth. With no prior Photoshop exposure whatsoever, teaching myself CS2 had been a daunting challenge. Books had left me confused and frustrated. I now feel that with practice, I'll be a maven in no time.

Dwayne: I could not make it through the old VTC tutorial for PS 7 because it was tedious, boring and confusing. Then, along came Dwayne and all I can say is thank you, thank you.
I would like to supplement the basic overview you provided with one of the many books published on PS CS, but one that is written by an author who is as capable of explaining a point in plain English as I found you to be.

Dwayne: I'm currently viewing your Adobe CS3 Photoshop tutorial and have to say this has been one of the best times learning I've had. I have been involved with design for the past 6 years but got away from it the last 3 years when I became the "IT guy" for my company. I'm not looking for work in the Dallas, Texas area and felt I was GREATLY behind in my skills because of the elapsed time from working in the Adobe products. Since using the Virtual Training courses, I've gained much knowledge for my trade and feel much more empowered as a designer to think out of the standard and allow my creativity to flow!

Dwayne: A quick note from the other side of the planet to say that I’m delighted you’ve put together the Photoshop Creative Suite 3 tutorial for VTC – I enjoyed every second of your previous version and can hardly wait to get stuck into the new one.
